Three Proposed Constitutional Amendments
Virginia voters will also decide three proposed amendments to the
Virginia Constitution. The League of Women Voters of Virginia supports all three proposed amendments.
Question 1 — Reproductive Freedom
Would amend the Virginia Constitution to protect decisions involving
reproductive health care, subject to provisions and limitations contained
in the proposed amendment.
Question 2 — Marriage
Would remove the existing constitutional ban on same-sex marriage,
affirm that two adults may marry regardless of sex, gender, or race,
and require legally valid marriages to be treated equally under the law.
Question 3 — Voting Rights
Would establish a fundamental right to vote in Virginia, provide for
automatic restoration of voting rights after release from incarceration
for a felony conviction, and revise constitutional language concerning
voting capacity.
